Gory Memories

My last day before leaving for college couldn't have gone any better. What was the perfect send-off? Some of my friends and I went to the Tivoli Theatre in St. Louis. Great place. They only play older, cult films and new limited release goodness. Classic movie posters and memorabilia are everywhere you look. Hell, there are even real curtains that are pulled for the show. That place never disappoints.

Anyway this has to relate to horror somehow, right? Well we just happened to see Peter Jackson's greatest film Dead-Alive (originally released as Braindead in New Zealand). The majority of the people that went with me had no idea what the film was about. I just told them it's Peter Jackson and zombies. I knew one of them didn't take gore too well, but that wasn't a problem when the last thirty minutes came around. All of us, including the rabid Dead Alive fans in the theatre, were laughing uncontrollably. Mixing the undead and blenders can be a riot. All in all, everyone in my party gave rave reviews. Feels good to know I've introduced a cult film to a new audience. Horror bringing people together, great huh?

I might do something more on Dead Alive later if there's any reaction. It's so easy to find myself ranting about one of the best horror flicks ever.
