Why haven't any of us done this before? The blog's called Misunderstood Monster and there's nary a post about some of our favorite monsters. I hope the other members will list some of their own. Note I've put a few monsters here even though I haven't seen their movie. They're on my to watch list, but really isn't this just about the monsters themselves? Well here they are.
Gill Man: Yes, Gill Man. Most people know him better as the Creature from the Black Lagoon, but that's not his name. Poor guy. Anyway out of all the Universal classic monsters I've always liked Gill Man the best. He's got a menacing fish face and sharp claws as you can tell below. Obviously he's the most dangerous in water but Gill Man can leave the water and do some damage as well. Reminds me of a terrestrial Jaws.
Mothra: Godzilla vs Mothra is unfortunately the only Toho movie I've seen. I know plenty of the monsters though, like Rodan, Gigan, and Ghidorah. I tend to have a bias for any insectoid monster (I'm studying entomology in college actually). Mothra would probably be the renown creature in that category. She only attacks when protecting her eggs or otherwise provoked. A poisonous yellow cloud helps in her battle, definitely one of Godzilla's formidable rivals.
Triffids: Plants can be threatening too, like in The Day of the Triffids. These carnivorous plants aren't the venus fly trap variety, they want flesh. They'll hunt by communicating and closing in on their target. Walking plants is one thing, but Triffids also have a deadly stinger. Humanity is pretty much hosed in this film.
Calamari Wrestler: Kani, the goalkeeping crab, came close but I had to go with the cephalopod on this one. Yeah technically his featured movie is more of a comedy but oh well it's my post anyway. Deal. It seems like a Rocky flick but with the aforementioned squid as the protagonist. Ingenious, I know.
