Laughing at Horror: Shaun of the Dead

Why does everyone love live movie? Perhaps it's uniqueness that makes this film an instant cult classic or maybe it's just the unbelievably well written comedy. I feel it's the sophisticated and random jumps of comedy. Few American films have this kind of comedic undertone. I love it. Every line is sarcastic or has a double meaning like a Mel Brooks film. British comedy films always have a strange awkward sense of humor. This one displays it perfectly with the actors

From the start we have an interesting plot that kinda drops us into the middle of small British town. Two friends Shaun and Ed live with their normal routine lives. Shaun just got dumped by his girlfriend mainly because of his love for a pub instead of her. Then for no particular reason zombies begin to appear. With the dead rising it's up to Shaun to protect his family, friends, and loved ones. Why are there zombies? Well that's up to you decide. Some little possible scenarios are added in and that's what makes this film so funny. The situation is completely ridiculous and no one seems to be able to handle it seriously or strong headed.

As the movie progresses we meet the characters that Shaun is so hell bent on protecting. The audience can clearly see the dimwitted nerves of everyone, but Shaun clearly cares for them all. We get to see lots and lots of zombie stereotypes and jokes occur during the film. The classic scene being when Shaun and the crew pose as fake zombie attempting to sneak by a large group of them. There's lots of stabs at society and people in general. Overall a great comedy and horror film. I highly suggest viewing this film. If you enjoy this film, Pegg and Frost star together in Hot Fuzz. Much of the same offbeat parody and jokes except with action films. Just watch the movies.

Yeah, I enjoyed it too, but towards the end it became exactly what it was spoofing. I forgot I was watching a comedy for a bit. Then, at the very end, it threw in some quick jokes. I don't know the last twenty minutes or so weren't that comedic.
