Underground: Below TCM's Standards?

TCM Underground on the Turner Classic Movie channel has been around for nearly a year now; it first premiered 10/13/06. If you're lucky enough to have TCM (I lost it when I came to college) you'll know Underground plays some cult classics on a weekly basis. Rob Zombie had hosted some films like The Night of the Living Dead and Freaks. I really don't care for Zombie's films but he had some interesting things to say before and after each movie. Good stuff to us horror enthusiasts.

Now for the controversy. Well, TCM purists, like my sister, can't stand seeing Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! with the likes of Arsenic and Old Lace. Some people doubt Pussycat's classic status. I can't see why but whatever.

Ignore all of the outrages on the TCM forums. I don't see this as TCM selling out to a younger audience. I'm sure they are getting those viewers what with Underground but, come on, it's only one maybe two movies every Friday night. Late night that is. No, in all seriousness, they might not have the same caliber as the tradition movies TCM plays. Really though, isn't Underground bringing movie lovers together albeit by a different kind of film? It just adds even more variety to the TCM schedule.

The Underground website, while a little light on content, is just great to look at. There's plenty of photos, illustrations, and videos.
